Building A St Louis Web Developer Blog Community

One of the keys to blogging is building a community among like-minded people who share thoughts in the virtual world, then take the time to meet each other and form offline relationships as well.

For St Louis, the Web Developer group is a natural fit for a blog community. Think of the people who come to the meetings; developers, designers, architects, recruiters, and technologists looking for advice on specific topics.

Most blogs are started and abandoned for lack of interest. If you're interested in finding out how to make this blog successful, leave a comment and we'll find a way to build this to benefit everyone.

August Meeting

Hi Everyone!

The next meeting of St. Louis Web Developers Organization, the local Chapter of the International Webmasters Association and the HTML Writers Guild (IWA-HWG), will be Tuesday, August 15, 2006.

We meet in the auditorium at One City Place. We have networking from 6:30 to 7:00 PM - a good time to meet with other members of the organization. Our host for food and drink is MODIS, courtesy of Jane Bullington, a former Board member of St. Louis Web Developers.

Our regular meeting will start at 7:00 PM. Our Program for the evening is "ASP Odyssey: One man's odyssey as he tries to navigate through setup and deployment of his organization's information filled website".

Alan Barasch has been in the process of converting a website that was originally 3200 static pages (created from his Excel macros) to ASP and SQL Server for over 6 months. The first draft is online at http://missouri.mophil.org. He would like our help in building the DataGrid and web.config.

Alan Barasch has been involved with the St. Louis Web Developers organizationand its predecessor since before 1995. At present, he is an unemployed Excel developer who also happens to know a thing or two about web development. He is a director and vice-president of STLWebDev.

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday.
